I still think they could have played with the idea of the Poncho a little bit more, eating away at its contours or adding more onto it in different stages. This is especially prominent on her light side. I will say that they did a good job in changing the designs ON her shapes, like the symbols and patterns make her feel pretty different. straight up lingerie haha.Ĭharlotte Carly's designs face a similar problem, but she has an overall simpler character design in general anyway, so I think they did a good job making the most of what they had. I wish it was a little more like the one after it (4th tier) instead, where you still have SOME armor, but at least it's not just. Fenrir Knight (D/D), by contrast, just feels lazy. It's a cool armor design, and it still accentuates her model in the obvious ways for the better. The best one, imo, is Dragon Master (D/L). Vanadis (L/L) is getting there, but it feels a little too 'safe' in its shape language. Lise- excuse me, Reese - While I have no personal qualms with /ImpracticalArmour and find them to look cool, I genuinely would have liked to see what interesting designs in her armor and not just fall back on "get it she's hot" for every single outfit. The only ones that really start to branch out significantly besides a color swap or adding shoulder plates are his final 2, which feel remarkably different than the rest, but do stand out all the more (in a good way) because of that. Overall I think his are generally the weakest? I think it's just because it feels like they didn't do a whole lot to differentiate each of them between each other. Overall pretty strong designs, with room to improve. I kind of wish, though, that they'd saved the white for his 4th tier, and used green to match his hat on his L/L 3rd tier. His light side suffers a lot thematically where you can't really tell what the design is supposed to be, but they credit in their original shapes and colors. I kind of wish his 4th tier dark class was more like the Nightblade design. ![]() The differences between Ninja and Nightblade are fetching fantastic. ![]() ![]() Hawk's light side ones are all kind of samey and boring, but his dark side ones are cool af. Otherwise, molto bene! The rest of her outfits are excellently done. This was also an opportunity to improve on the original colors, but oh well. This one should feel elegant and dynamic, and not just arbitrarily skimpy. ![]() First of all, I think her poofy fur bits are obnoxious and unnecessary, and her helmet should be more like a tiara like the rest of her head pieces, and is generally way too big. I realize they were trying to imitate the original concept, but I feel like they failed by exaggerating the wrong things. The strong yellow kind of clashes with the overly shiny silver armor, and Gold+Silver doesn't really feel like a Dark side class, especially if it's supposed to be her Dark/Dark. They're all so unique and colorful and have strong, cool shapes! I'm not personally a huge fan of Magus's choice in color. I've also seen all of the original concept art for these characters and their classes, as well as their unique Class Sprites in game.Īngela's models are far and away the coolest designs, even aside from the two ahem obvious reasons haha. I'm also an artist for video games IRL, so I've got a bit of an eye for character design. I say this as a diehard longtime fan of this game who played the original Fan Translated ROM for years. Since you asked, I thought I'd give my 2 cents on each of the character's designs. Hey, thanks for making this! These diagrams are pretty great, I think I'll stash them away into my Mana Series folder.
